It was on a blustery thursday morning that my inspiration for this fun playroom came about.  I looked out my kitchen window and saw a guy with a chainsaw chopping down an old Yew tree and as I wandered over looking at those fallen branches, it hit me…..(inspiration…..not the tree)!!! ;)

I shall bring the outside in!!!

I asked the guy if I could take some branches and set about my selection with wheelbarrow in hand! At this point I didn’t really know what I would do with them but those ol' branches filled me with excitement!

I did some sketches of my design concept and explained my ideas to bring the playroom to life.  Luckily for me, I was given the go ahead to ‘do my thing’ :))

I really wanted to create a warm, cosy space that the children could hang out in, but also feel like they could look out and see nature around them…….living in BC, racoons were the perfect answer……fun, mischevious and extremely cute!

I found some tongue and groove pine panels and with a bit of research ( thank you YouTube) I found a recipe of white vinegar and steel wool which miracoulously transformed those panels as though they has stood outside in all weathers.

With help from my handyman husband Fred, we sawed and stapled those panels, added my old branches and then I got to work with my paintbrush!

You know you’ve done a good job, when your client tells you he is going to hang out in that playroom with his 3 kids for many years to come!!!  :)))
